Annual Landscape & Annual Portrait Competitions – 12th May 2021

On 12th May 2021, the club held its first annual competitions of the year. The judge for the evening was Anthony Baines CPAGB, ARPS, AFIAP. The competitions were firstly landscape and then portraits. There were some really good images presented.
Anthony gave a full critique on all the entries which will help our members immensely in their photography.

3rd Aggregate colour and mono Print competition – 13th January 2021

On Wednesday, 13th January, the club held its 3rd Aggregate Colour and Aggregate Mono Print competition (presented as DPI).  As before, the competition was held via a Zoom meeting and our judge for the evening was Kirsty Ralfs.   Kirsty critiqued each image carefully and offered good advice and suggestions for improvement, if necessary.  We would like to thank Kirsty for her excellent judging and managing to choose the worthy winners.  

We would also like to thank you, our loyal members, for your ongoing support, despite these unprecedented times. Your continued participation in competitions is really appreciated and contributes greatly to some very enjoyable and interesting evenings.

2nd Aggregate DPI – 9th December 2020

On Wednesday, 9th December, the club held its 2nd aggregate DPI competition, the last before the Christmas break.  As before, the competition was held via a Zoom meeting and our judge for the evening was Kirsty Ralfs.  As always, Kirsty critiqued each image carefully and offered sound advice and suggestions for improvement, if necessary.  Kirsty remarked that the images in both sections were of a particularly high standard; something that she has come to expect from Deal Camera Club.

Colour Print and Mono Print Competition (projected as DPI)

On Wednesday, 4th November, the club held its second Colour and Mono print competition – although due to Covid 19, the competition was held via a Zoom meeting and of course, the images were digitally projected.  Under these difficult circumstances, it was great to see a good number of high quality entries in both the intermediate and advanced groups.  Our judge for the evening, Cherry Larcombe, gave a detailed critique of every image and had a hard task in picking out the winners.  We would like to express our thanks to Cherry for doing such a superb job.

The Camera Club – 2020 Return

The Camera Club will return via Zoom for the rest of the year. Meetings will be fortnightly and will start with competitions, but may be expanded to include talks if there is enough interest. Please see the Meetings / Programme Page for the latest information.

Aggregate DPI competition 26th Feb 2020

Last evening, the club held its third aggregate DPI competition of the season.  There were a good number of entries and it was particularly encouraging to see such excellent quality images in the intermediate section.  It was also great to see some new names taking the top spots in that section.  The advanced section also had a high number of superb images and our judge, Kirsty Ralfs, had quite a task to separate the good from the great.  As always, Kirsty’s judging was thorough, to the point and very informative. We would like to thank Kirsty for another excellent evening.

Aggregate Mono Print competition 5th February 2020

Yesterday, the club held its third aggregate mono print competition of the season. Whilst there were fewer entries than normal, the standard was very high with a wide subject matter.  Our judge for the evening, Di Long, gave a very full and detailed commentary on every image and made particular mention of the importance of using an appropriate colour mount board to suit mono prints.  Cream is definitely not OK!

Aggregate Mono Print – 20th Nov 19

Last evening, the club held its second aggregate mono print competition of the season.  The standard of work was high and our judge for the evening, Chris Shore, had a difficult task in choosing a winner.  Chris gave a full and detailed commentary on each image and has given us all much to think about when taking and printing mono images.  Our thanks to Chris for a very informative and highly amusing evening.

Aggregate Colour Print competition: 6th November 2019.

On Wednesday 6th November 2019, the club held its second Aggregate colour print competition of the season.

The judge for the evening was Trevor Youe. Trevor who has judged at Deal many times before gave a very full and thorough examination and commentary of each print that had been entered. The subject matter was quite diverse, but presented no problem at all to the judge. The audience clearly enjoyed the event.

Annual Print and DPI Panel Competition

On Wednesday, 30th October, the Club held its annual Print and DPI Panel competition.   There were a good number of entries in both sections with some very innovative and creative panels to enjoy.  Our judge, Sue Chapman gave a full and detailed critique of every image and was impressed by the high standard of work produced by our members.

We would like to express our thanks to Sue for kindly stepping in at the last minute and we wish Di Long a speedy recovery.
